Fiber Optic Sensors and Systems BVBA or FOS&S ( FOS ) is a private held company (SME) specialized in the development and commercialization of fiber optical sensing systems. The company has been founded in 1999 and is located in Belgium. Its core technology focuses on Fibre Bragg Grating (FBG) sensors and interrogation units. The company has at its disposal a unique production facility that allows the writing of FBGs in the fibre while drawing it. These so-called Draw Tower Gratings (DTG®) offer some attractive properties like high strength and the possibility of automated production and are believed to be strategic to further open the fibre optical sensing market.

FOS provides standard sensing products but also develops customized products to meet customers' requirements. FOS is trying to find the best way to customers' satisfaction by developing new products and technologies. Besides direct sales and new product developments, FOS is also active as total solution provider. FOS possesses a highly skilled engineering team for the installation, follow up and maintenance of sensing networks such that customers are not supposed to have detailed knowledge regarding fibre optical sensing technologies in order to get the maximum out of their system.

The company has gained some significant expertise in the domain of structural health monitoring thanks to many pilot projects all over the world like e.g. the monitoring of bridges, dams and dikes, buildings, mines and recently also in airplanes. Therefore, it has become a key player in this market segment on a worldwide basis. Two key persons will contribute to PHOSFOS.
